  • 0

a) ₹ 68750, ₹ 54600 & ₹ 54600

b) ₹ 67750, ₹ 54200 & ₹ 54200

c) ₹ 67250, ₹ 54100 & ₹ 54100

d) ₹ 60750, ₹ 54200 & ₹ 54200

correct answer is: b) ₹ 67750, ₹ 54200 & ₹ 54200

Explanation

Here,
At the time of retirement, a man got ₹ 196150.
He donated ₹ 20000.
So that, the remaining amount = ₹ \left(196150-20000\right)
\rightarrow ₹ 176150.
Now,
He divided the remaining money in the ratio of 5\;:\;4\;:\;4.
Let’s,
Wife received ₹ 5x.
Son received ₹ 4x.
Daughter received ₹ 4x.
According to the question,
₹ \left(5x+4x+4x\right)= ₹ 176150
\rightarrow 13x = 176150
\rightarrow x=\large\frac{176150}{13}
\rightarrow x=13550
So that,
Wife received ₹ 5x or ₹ \left(5\times13550\right)= ₹ 67750.
Son and daughter both received ₹ 4x or ₹ \left(4\times13550\right)= ₹ 54200.
Ans: He gave ₹ 67750 to wife, ₹ 54200 to son and ₹ 54200 to daughter.

These precise math questions can also be expressed as:
  1. Upon retiring, a man acquired ₹ 196150. Following a donation of ₹ 20000 towards the school library, the remainder was divided among his wife, son, and daughter in the ratio 5 : 4 : 4. Calculate the amount of money given to each of them.
  2. At the time of retirement, a man obtained ₹ 196150, from which he contributed ₹ 20000 for the school library. The leftover amount was distributed among his wife, son, and daughter in the ratio 5 : 4 : 4. Find out how much money he provided to each of them.
  3. Upon his retirement, a man received ₹ 196150. After contributing ₹ 20000 to the school library, the rest was divided among his wife, son, and daughter in the ratio 5 : 4 : 4. Calculate the sum of money he gave to each of them.
